Welcome to week 3 of Study Hall!
Dani will be going live on Facebook this Thursday, May 18th at 10am CST to answer all of the questions you have so far! She’ll be covering the Instagram Audit checklist and hashtag sections that were covered in week 1. She will be diving into week 2’s content about how you can create a 5 minute action plan you can execute each day and help you discover which strategies work best for your type of business!
Hey Friends – Dani here! This is week three of my Instagram Study Hall and I’m excited to dive into the details about recurring features!
What are Recurring Features?
Recurring features help you reliably produce content for your account, which can help alleviate some of the stress and pressure of posting consistently — but along with helping bulk up your content calendar, they can also help out in others ways:
1. They can help create brand identity as your fans start to expect and identify your features in their feed.
2. They help get your fans involved in providing content for your use!
For example, if you own a beauty salon and every Wednesday you share a testimonial from a customer, your fans will start to expect to see those testimonials in their feed every Wednesday morning, but each week they are also getting a passive reminder to go to your website and write a review for your services (which gives you more to share in the future). Similarly, if you own the hashtag #PuppyPhotos, and every Sunday you pick a recent photo tagged with #puppyphotos and repost it on your feed, you are helping to remind your audience that you promote and feature photos from #PuppyPhotos, making them more likely to share content there.
Below is a list of recurring features that are pretty common, but remember that it is not limited to this list, you can make up your own! Look over the list and think about which ones would make sense for your business and then decide when you want to feature them (time of day, day of week) and how often (Monthly? Weekly? Seasonally?)
Ideas for Recurring Features
- Customer Testimonials
- Posing a question or discussion topic
- A fan photo
- Product feature or PR highlight
- Weekly or monthly contest
- Weekly or monthly giveaway
- Tip or free advice
- A hashtag feature that is specific to your brand can also be recurring.
- “Makeup Monday” “Wine Wednesday” “Fitness Friday”
Pick out your top 5 recurring features
Now it’s time for you to put in the work! Sit down with your Study Hall Notes and write out the top five recurring features you think will work best for your business. Remember, this will not only help grow your following and give you solid content to share each week, it will also save you time! Writing down the features you’ll use each week will allow you to spend more time doing the things you love and less time worrying about what to post to Insta.
Don’t forget to RSVP to my Facebook Live training happening this Thursday, May 18th at 10am CST. Show up with your questions from week 1 and 2 of your Study Hall that have you stumped, I can’t wait to help you apply all of the strategies you’ve learned so far! See you there!
