Information To Include in your Save the Date
Names: Your first names are the only thing you’ll really need as long as you include your last name in the return address
Wedding Date: Make sure to have your venue and any must have vendors booked before sending Save the Dates to ensure there won’t be a change in date
Wedding Location: Include the City and State for a US wedding
Website (optional): Let guests know they can find more information about your wedding on your website
Invitation Note: A brief note such as ‘Formal Invitation to Follow’ tells guests to expect a full invitation at a later date
When to Send wedding Save the Dates
Give your guests plenty of time to mark your wedding date on their calendar (especially during those busy summer months).
Send your Save the Dates:
6-8 months before your wedding date
If most of your guests are local or in the same state as your wedding, 6 months if plenty of time. Send closer to 8 months prior if many of your guests will be traveling and need to request time off of work / make accommodation reservations.
8-10 months before your destination wedding
In our Ultimate Wedding Stationery Checklist you’ll find even more info on when to send your Save the Dates and wedding invitations!
Where to Order your Save the Dates
Your custom stationer of course! 🙂 We recommend booking 9-12 months out from your wedding date if you hope to have the most cohesive suite of stationery from your Save the Dates all the way to your Thank You Cards. However, if you’ve waited a little too long and need to get a Save the Date out right away we suggest using an online retailer then bringing a copy of your Save the Date to your Creative Consultation so that we can make sure to coordinate your invitation with your Save the Date.
