Abode: A Home Design Workshop is set for Saturday, September 23rd, held at the beautiful new retail space Form Fine Goods in downtown Milwaukee!
Full details about the workshop can be found HERE.
At each workshop Em and I wrack our creative brains to create the most unique, memorable and beautiful day for our guests. Each time I begin to conceptualize our next event, there are a few key factors I always have to consider:
- The space: I’m all about a beautiful and uplifting space, however, the most important factor is that I’m bringing to the forefront amazing local business owners and their spaces. I want to introduce our guests to the heart behind our thriving local business scene. We truly stand behind and support the term ‘shop local’.
- The skill: It’s one thing to have a beautiful event and make something pretty, but my biggest goal is to make sure our guests can learn valuable skills and apply it to multiple facets of their life. Take for instance one of our most popular workshops, calligraphy. Not only can you address beautiful envelopes for friends, but you can create gifts for friends, letter on signs for events, and the list goes on.
- The experience: The golden rule I always follow with each event is that DETAILS MATTER. I’m always asking myself, what will she feel when she steps into the space? What kind of drink and personalized gift will she be greeted with? How can I make her feel welcomed and excited to meet other creatives during her time here? It’s these little details that keep me up at night and it’s the reason why I get so darn excited each time I host a workshop.
- The takeaway: I know I’ve said it before, but I felt compelled to create these workshops to start putting focus back on creating memorable life experiences. We all have enough ‘stuff’ in our lives, and what we’re all lacking is human connection and purposeful moments. My goal with each Mint & Lovely workshop is to have every guest walk away feeling empowered to create beauty in their life.
Have you been to a workshop of ours before? Do you agree? I’d love to hear from you! Leave me a message in the comments.
Alright, moving onto the exciting details for our next workshop.
For years I’ve been hearing from workshop guests that they want a home decor workshop, however, I didn’t want to create just any event unless I had a stellar team of educators ready to share their best kept secrets and tips on design with you. I’ve finally brought together a nationally renowned designer PLUS a sought after local plant expert to bring you Abode: A Home Design Workshop happening this September 23rd!
We are teaming up with the incredibly talented DIY’er and home design expert Jenni of I Spy DIY to bring you all you’ve wanted to know about designing a space you love. After living in New York for years and delighting viewers of Good Morning America and Rachel Ray with her amazing DIY party and home decor projects, she’s back in her hometown of Milwaukee ready to teach you everything she knows! At Abode, she’ll be instructing you on leather construction techniques that will result in a trendy hanging leather planter. She will walk you through rope knotting techniques as well so you can go home and easily hang your one-of-a-kind piece!
Jenni will also walk you through her process as she designs a space at the front of class for all of our workshop guests! She will discuss how to best utilize the furniture pieces you already have and reimagine them with a few updated decor pieces. She’s sharing her tips on styling and showing you how to quickly transform your space by inserting your own personal style.
What’s more, you’ll be able to take home all of the tools you’ll be using at the workshop to ensure you can create even more personalized decor pieces for your home!
Since you’ll be walking away with a beautiful new planter, you of course need to outfitted with a new plant to go inside! That’s where our friend Beth of Form Fine Goods comes in. She will be teaching you plant care tips and educating you on which types of plants will do best in your home. Have you bought a succulent only to see it die 3 weeks later? Stop throwing your money away and learn from our plant care expert!
